HFSA is a collaborative architectural, programming and planning practice. The firm's emphasis on sharing ideas is a central focus in the identification and discovery of design opportunities. On each project there is one individual who is ultimately responsible as Principal in Charge, however, each team member is involved in all decisions. As a result, each project benefits from the shared wisdom and experiences of many individuals and their talents within the firm. |
The structure of the firm is open and is built around a project, thereby allowing the client to have an on-going and consistent communication with the design team and its leadership. This is possible because the key people remain with the project from start to finish providing the client and project with anchors which ensures that certain main themes and concepts continue to grow and develop as the project evolves. |
HFSA is committed to the intimate and continuous involvement of the client in the design of a project. We believe that the beauty of each project lies in three important areas: |
First, a project must embrace the site rather than being imposed upon it. This implies that a building is at ease with its natural surroundings and neighboring buildings, fully utilizing its historic relationships. |
Second, the project must develop from the inside out, thereby creating facilities that function smoothly for the user. This signifies the importance of each user's experience in its development. |
Third, the project team must pay attention to the "little things" in a project. Paying attention to these details during the early phase and throughout the design process will enhance the value of a building to the user/client without additional expense. These are the details that make the facilities we design enjoyable places to work and visit. |
